It is particularly dear to me to present my salutations and those of the Italian Film Industry to the Nederlandsche Biocoop-Bond, in occasion of the 40th Anniversary of its foundation. Your Association is making its jubilee in a period that is rather difficult for the cinema. The advent of new forms of show, in direct competition. has given the Film Industry new and complex problems to face. Problems of art, but more than anything else financial problems. as to my opinion it is impossible to solve the first without overcoming the obstacles of an economie nature that prevent a still higher development of the Film Industry. These obstacles span from the freedom of exchanges to the unification of new techniques. from the relations with the Television to fairer taxations for the cinema, and they all require joint efforts of all sectors of the Film Industry on a world-wide scale if a favourable solution is desired. The Italian Film Industry that since years has turned its politics towards a closer international cooperation. has promoted several initiatives in the european as well as well as in the intercontinental fields. for a still closer cooperation. Particularly in the european field, the cooperation between the Dutch and the Italian Industries will be able to produce better results. Since last spring at Brussels and quite recently at Venice in the talks of the Dutch and Italian Bepresentatives we were able to set the basis for a common action. I feel sure that your Association will give this action its fullest favour. in our common interest and for a better future of the international Cinema. In the meantime I wish io thank the Dutch film Distributors and Dealers for the extensive and friendly assistance given for the diffusion of the Italian Film in the Dutch market. I am also glad to present the most sincere .vishes of the Italian Film Industry to your Association. In its long life it has given a luminous example of how the union in a single family of the various sectors of the Cinema Industry may turn out useful. Most Sincerely Yours, (Avv. Eitel Monaco) President Associazone Nazionale Industrie Cinemato°:rafiche ed Affini
