Dear Sirs,
For America's exhibitors in the Theatre Owners of America, may I, as their President, extend warm
greetings and congratulations to the theatremen, the distributors, and the producers who comprise the Nederlandsche
Bioscoop-Bond, on this very impressive and important 40th Anniversary.
For T.O.A., which will assemble on Oct. 21st in Miami Beach, Florida, for its llth Annual Convention,
40 years bespeaks a solidarity of organization which is to be respected and envied. While T.OA.'s roots go way
back to the early days of our industry, the 40 years of your Bond is proof that your elders and your fathers
knew the value of a trade organization even in the days when the „movies" were in their infancy. We theatremen in
America must salute this vision and faith.
May I, in addition to offering birthday good wishes, also take this opportunity to recognize the growing
bond not only between our two organisations, but among theatremen all over the world. It is a friendship and an
exchange that is to be commended and encouraged, not only to be benefit ourselves, but because such
understanding and such rapport encourages in the broader sence the respect and the understanding that that
must exist to maintain world peace.
We have so much in common in these critical days of our buseniss! Less pictures are being made than
there were a decade ago. Technological advances are occurring constantly, and if we are to have better theatres to
compete for our patron's free time and recretional dollar, we must keep pace with these changes. No country is
so big, or so smart, or so rich, that it can supply all the answers. Interchange of information among countries
such as we are now enjoying is the only sensible way.
So may I again extend congratulations from the Theatre Owners of America to the theatremen of
Holland, and to your Bond. And may I hope that the pleasant, mutually-beneficial relationships which we have had
over the past recent years will be expanded and nurtured in the years to come. Good luck, from a "young"
T.O.A. to a „mature" Bond.

C'est une grande joie pour moi que de pouvoir m'associer au brillant anniversaire que vous fêtez. Je vous
envoie donc mes félicitations les plus sincères a 1'occasion de votre quarantième année d'activité tout en vous
souhaitent une heureuse et fructueuse continuation de cette activité qui est non seulement féconde mais qui peut
servir de modèle a nos confrères du monde entier.
En effet, vous avez réussi un véritable miracle de solidarité puisque votre association groupe
harmonieusement les trois branches principales de notre profession et vous avez également contribué a la
solidarité corporative sur Ie plan international en adhérant a la F.I.A.P.F.
En cette époque hasardeuse oü Ie cinéma est souvent menacé dans son existence même il est réconfortant
de voir une association comme la vótre donner un exemple parfait de cohésion et apporter dans Ie domaine
cinématographique un sens a la devise de votre glorieux pays „Je maintiendrai". La force de votre organisation est
un réconfort pour Ie cinéma tout entier.
Je me fais 1'interprète de tous mes confrères du Syndicat Francais des Producteurs et Exportateurs de Films
et de toutes les associations groupées au sein de la Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs
de Films pour vous apporter Ie témoignage de notre estime professionnelle et de notre sympathie personelle
a 1'occasion de votre jubilé. Avec nos meilleurs voeux de prospérité pour les quarante années a venir.
